Breakfast Roundtables

Join peers with similar interests for open conversation about a range of important topics. Roundtables will take place from 8-9 am on Wednesday in the Alumni Lounge in the Pyle Center.

Expanding Generosity: Modernizing Donor Engagement
Angelique S.C. Grant, PhD
Senior Consultant and Principal, The Inclusion Firm

Philanthropy is facing a new reality: donor participation is shifting, expectations are rising, and trust has never mattered more. Organizations seeing growth are expanding beyond traditional donor pathways and building stronger, more meaningful relationships with communities that have often been overlooked or under-engaged.

Join this interactive breakfast roundtable to explore practical strategies for expanding donor engagement, strengthening trust across communities, and creating more inclusive giving experiences that deepen relationships and inspire generosity. Through peer discussion and shared experiences, participants will exchange ideas for broadening participation, identifying new donor pathways, and turning values into fundraising results.

Using Metrics as Performance and Management Drivers: Defining and Applying Shared Credit
Jan Weinberg Wood, CFRE
Senior Managing Vice President, BWF

As the saying goes, you can’t manage what you don’t measure. But which metrics truly drive performance to raise more money versus metrics that are really tools to manage and coach frontline fundraisers? Metrics for “metrics sake” simply create work rather than drive success, so which ones are actually meaningful rather than just interesting?

What is the difference between “shared credit” and “assist credit,” and what is the value of each in supporting team culture, collaboration, and performance? These are the questions we’ll consider and answer during this roundtable discussion.

Employee Giving
Lupita Garza, CFRE
Former Development Director, University Health Foundation

Tim Self, FAHP, CFRE, CNP, FCEP
Executive Director, AnMed Health Foundation

Join us for an interactive roundtable discussion focused on strengthening Employee Giving—from getting started to elevating an existing program.

Together, we’ll explore the three C’s of Employee Giving: Cause, Culture, and Communication, and how each plays a vital role in promoting a thriving culture of philanthropy. Whether you’re building a program from the ground up or looking for fresh inspiration to deepen engagement, this participatory session offers a collaborative space to share ideas, learn from peers, and grow together.

Finding Your Voice: When Philanthropy Becomes the Heart of the Brand
Michael J. Beall
Principal Consultant and Communications Practice Leader, Accordant

Your foundation has the most compelling story in the building — so why does it so often get told last? Join us over coffee for a candid conversation about the messaging tightrope every healthcare foundation walks.

How do you sound like you while still sounding like the health system you're part of? Who actually owns the relationship with marketing—and is it a partnership or a hostage negotiation? And how can the foundation become the trust-builder-in-chief, not just with donors, but with the physicians, nurses, and community members who decide whether your mission is real? Bring your wins, your war stories, and your unanswered questions.

DAFs and QCDs
Tim Logan, FAHP, ACFRE, CFRE
Senior Legacy Director, Mal Warwick Donordigital

Everything you want to know about DAFs and QCDs: what they are, how to integrate them into your fundraising program, marketing them, and what DAF and QCD donors look like.

Grateful Patient Program Implementation
Wayne Combs
Associate Vice President, BWF Zuri

This roundtable will explore practical strategies for implementing a grateful patient program that strengthens relationships with patients and families while supporting philanthropic engagement.

Participants will discuss key considerations such as physician and staff involvement, ethical outreach, data-informed identification, and creating a patient-centered experience that aligns with organizational values.
